JCI Vasco Launches Ambitious Seed Ball Initiative "वृष्टि:" at 60th Installation Ceremony 

Vasco da Gama, Goa – January 18, 2025 –  JCI Vasco marked its 60th Installation Ceremony with the momentous launch of वृष्टि: “Vitalise 2 Visualise 4r Vibrant Vision,” its flagship project for 2025. 

This ambitious seed ball initiative aims to address Goa's environmental challenges by promoting reforestation and ecological restoration through community engagement. Aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals 13 (Climate Action), 15 (Life on Land), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), वृष्टि: embodies the organization's commitment to a sustainable future.

The launch event was a distinguished affair, attended by key figures including Dr. Jenefier Lewis, Chairperson of the Indian Concrete Institute - Goa Centre; Dr. Dharmendra Prabhudessai, President of the Goa Ayurvedic Medical Association (G.A.M.A) and Vice Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Baina-Vasco; JC HGF Dr. Shilpa Raghava Silveira, Zone Vice President of Region C; and JFE Ashok Deshprabhu, Past National President, in the presence of Past Presidents, IPP, Members & Junior Jaycees of JCI Vasco and Jaycees of various LO's of JCI India Zone 11.

वृष्टि: (Vrishti), meaning "rain" in Sanskrit, underscores the project's goal of nurturing and revitalizing the environment. The initiative will utilize seed balls – a simple yet effective method of dispersing native seeds – to combat deforestation, soil erosion, and the impacts of climate change. Seed balls are gaining popularity globally for their ease of use and effectiveness in reforestation and ecosystem restoration.

JC Vijaya Kirloskar, President of JCI Vasco, expressed enthusiasm for the project's potential impact: "वृष्टि: embodies our commitment to creating a sustainable future for Goa. By engaging diverse stakeholders and utilizing the power of community participation, we believe this project will leave a lasting positive impact on our environment."

The project's scope is far-reaching, with plans to involve educational institutions, the defense sector, healthcare providers, local bodies, NGOs, and government entities. This collaborative approach aims to maximize the project's reach and ensure its long-term success, directly contributing to SDG 17 by fostering partnerships for the goals.
